my take on the digital adaptation of Arcs
by the end of 2024, I was enamored by Oath’s design and, with Pax Pamir 2nd Edition (another one of Cole Wherle designs) already on its way to my home, I was very curious to try out his latest creation: Arcs.
and so, at the beginning of 2025 I got my hands on it and got familiar with its systems on my own over the next few days.
not long after that, I was able to get my first play, when I took it with me to my group’s next Oath session (ours 8th session by then) and got instantly hooked on its decision space.
at the time of writing, I am aware that - at least - two other similiar projects exist. one of them fully realized and the other being the offical digital adaptiation - currently in development by the guys over at Dire Wolf Digital
my main drive for this project is to learn how to tackle the various aspects of a digital card-based game, as I’m eager to give it a go with a design of my own - a project with a shared tableau, with dynamics similiar to the ones found in Oath.
